SIGNING OF THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT (CBA)
"The fight in the Delano vineyards ended on July 29, 1970, due in large part to the combination of an effective boycott and the mediation efforts of the U.S. Catholic Church; specifically the Bishop’s Committee on Farm Labor. Growers covering almost half of California’s table grape crop and roughly eight thousand farmworkers signed contracts with the UFWOC. These agreements provided laborers with wages of $ 1.80 an hour – 40 cents more than they had requested at the strike’s beginning."
